ADC Project: WACREN conducts 4-day technical training in Burkina Faso
WACREN will conduct a 4-day training for campus network engineers at the Virtual University of Burkina Faso from Monday, January 16 to Friday, January 19, 2023.
This is part of capacity-building efforts under the Africa Digital Campus project to upskill the engineers to administer the campus infrastructure effectively.
The skills are expected to improve the campus network's usability, security and reliability and the connection between the NRENs and the campus network.
Workshop topics include:
- Research and education network infrastructure
- Best practices for designing the core campus infrastructure
- Campus design principles
- Physical infrastructure (cabling and cable installation)
- Optical fibre
- Switching (spanning tree, VLANs, L2 best practice)
- Routing (static routing and OSPF)
- IPv4, IPv6 and deployment of a dual-stack infrastructure
- Choice of campus routers and switches
- Best practices in Core network operations
- Campus Security Implementation and Best Practices
- Acceptable use policies
- Firewall placement monitoring
- Establishing sufficient instrumentation to monitor and manage the network.
