Benin

The Africa Digital Campus (ADC) project was officially launched on Tuesday, 25 October, at the Golden Tulip le Diplomate Hotel in Cotonou by the government, with the support of the Agence Française de Développement (Afd) and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), to strengthen cooperation in distance learning and network infrastructure in West Africa.

Present at the momentous occasion were Eléonore Yayi Ladékan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Aurélie Adam Soulé Zoumarou, the Minister for Digital Affairs and Digitisation; Alexandra Chauveau, AFD’s Cotonou Pole Manager and Dr Boubakar Barry, CEO of WACREN, Marc-André Loko executive director of ASIN, Laurent Ilboudo, Deputy regional director; Tizane Daho – Deputy Director UV-BF.

All stakeholders expressed committment to the successful implementation of the project.

When an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting.

By the end of the pilot project in Benin, the following will have been achieved:

Competent educators

Teachers will have gained the requisite skills to leverage approrpiate technology and content for e-learning education.

e-learning infrastructure

There will have been a solid infrastruture to support e-learning. This will include high speed internet, LMS and open educational resources

Academic continuity

A robust academic environment that continues pedagogy delivery in spite of the external shocks.
